Azerbeidzjaanse president feliciteert FK Qarabagh Agdam

De prestaties van FK Qarabagh Agdam zijn in eigen land niet onopgemerkt gebleven.

Het nieuwsbureau APA weet dat hoofdtrainer Gurban Gurbanov voorafgaand aan de loting tegen FC Twente een telefoontje ontving van president Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Garabagh football club of Aghdam, AFFA’s Information and Public Affairs Department told apasport.az website.

The head of state had a telephone conversation with coach of the team Gurban Gurbanov.

President congratulated the coach on the victory over Finland’s Honka club and the club’s playoff qualification.

I was very pleased that President Ilham Aliyev phoned to congratulate me. Frankly speaking, President’s call was unexpected for me,” coach of “Karabakh” club of Aghdam Gurban Gurbanov told apasport.az.
Gurbanov said he was very glad.

“I am grateful to Ilham Aliyev for this care. The head of state expressed interesting views in the telephone conversation. We spoke about the development of Azerbaijani football, “Karabakh” club. President said our victory was the greatest success of our football. He underlined the recognition of Karabakh on the international arena. Karabakh exists. President especially noted that our team mainly consists of local players and coaches. It shows that there are footballers and coaches in Azerbaijan and our football is developing,” he said.

“The head of state wished us success in the forthcoming matches. Of course, our achievement is the result of Ilham Aliyev’s care and attention to football and in general to sport. We appreciate it. We will do our best to justify our president’s confidence,” he said.
“Karabakh” club defeated Finland’s “Honka” club in both matches – 1:0 and 2:1.
